Edmonton-finally here!

I've finally had a few moments to sit down, write some friends and get this blog started! I left from Merritt on Wednesday and drove and drove and drove all the way to Spruce Grove. Whew. What a long 10 hours but what a beautiful province B.C. is. There was lots to look at (besides the back of the uhaul my dad was pulling) so that made the drive a bit nicer. My mom drove for a bit and I got a little sad when I fell asleep in the mountains and woke up to the "hills" of Alberta! My parents and I spent the night at my cousin Krista and her husband Bryce's home. Krista and I are the same age and close friends so it was great to spend a night at her home knowing that I'll be seeing lots of her now that I am living in Edmonton. Having her close by makes the transition a little easier! On Thursday I arrived at my new house with my parents and began unloading. We unpacked and began what felt like non-stop running around (Wal-mart, Ikea, Costco, back to Ikea, Save-on...) for 2 days! I am so grateful to my mom and dad for everything they did for me here, for helping me get settled, for stocking up my kitchen with food and for some good ol' Ikea furniture. Oh and the millions of other things that I needed to make living a little easier (who knew one needed so many different cleaning supplies?!-ha ha). Thanks mom and dad-I love you both so much! My brother Kev was visiting my other brother Chris in Calgary and came to Edmonton on Thurs. to help me get settled as well. I was definitely a little emotional with them all around knowing that they would soon be leaving! My mom and dad had to leave on Saturday morning (to a very tearful goodbye on my part) to get back to the 'wack but my other brother Chris arrived the same day so that was cool. Kev, Chris and I had a good game of Dutch Blitz (I won by the way ;) and then Kev had to head off to a wedding. I did some more organizing in my place and then Krista invited us over for dinner. I only just got my counter top and sink put in yesterday night so we haven't really been able to do any cooking yet! My landlords, Kristy and Craig are really nice and have been working around the clock to get the basement suite finished for my arrival. It looks great! Kev had to leave this morning to get back home so that was sad as well but Chris has still been around so again, I'm not alone yet! We went to Beulah alliance this morning for church and then Kristy and Craig had a bbq for lunch. It was nice to meet some of their friends and since Krista and Bryce are friends with them as well, I was very comfortable. We had some awesome sun today-it was so hot! Anyway, I was able to finish putting everything away now that the kitchen is done and I'm beginning to feel a little more settled in my place. I feel like I know the area quite well too already. I'm only about a 10 min drive from the Uni. (if the traffic is good) and I'm very central to a lot of things so I'm pretty happy with the location! There is a pretty nice area to run in as well close by-I've only walked down there with my mom but one of these days I'll get out for a run! Anyway, I am exhausted and ready to sit down and do NOTHING! I miss all of my friend and family out in B.C. I hope you're all doing well!!

Yay, another blogger buddy! Sounds like you're off to a good start, and I hope things keep going that way. It's fun and hard to re-settle (I do know what you are going though!). Smell ya later, like maybe next summer...?
