the road leading to my house is bumpy, filled with potholes, crevices, rocks and now ice. a road well traveled. driven carefully and with some thought, I almost don't notice the imperfections of the road. late, rushing and driven without thought, these imperfections become annoyances. the road LESS traveled, the one I am called to walk has been paved before me. walked with a lot of thought, the beauty of this road becomes apparent. walked without thought, this road too, seems somewhat of an annoyance. It is too easy to become busy, distracted by the things that seem so important and stressed by the potholes in life. The more I worship, the more I crack open my bible and read, the more I want to slow down, to remember the way that has been paved before me, for me, for you, for us.
