Who doesn't love road trips? Besides the paresthesia I got in various parts of my body from sitting in one position while driving for hours, I can't think of any downfalls to hopping in a car and heading off into the wilderness. Okay, so Saskatchewan isn't exactly the wilderness but there was a certain road that Krista and I managed to freak ourselves out on. Let me back up...
Last friday, Krista and I hopped in her car and began the 7 hour drive from Edmonton to Caronport, SK. We were going for a weekend away, to visit our cousin Keith at Briercrest and to enjoy a night of relaxation in the mineral spa
in Moose Jaw. This is Krista and I beginning our trip. We managed to take many pictures while driving. Sounds rather unsafe but truly, when you are the only vehicle on the road, and the road is straight for miles and miles, there's not too much to be concerned about.
Oh yeah, about the freaky road...we stopped in Chamberlain for our last gas up before making it to Caronport and asked the gas attendant if we were to turn at the road just up ahead. He said yes and we were on our way. Only it was extremely dark out and when we began driving down the "highway", it looked more like a creepy back road going nowhere. I was driving fairly slowly making sure we were actually on the right road and before I know it, we are talking about the gas attendant directing us the wrong way and how he was probably following us, laughing mirthlessly to himself. Suddenly, Krista is shouting for me to speed up and is locking the doors. Makes sense doesn't it? If a bad guy is trying to get us, it would be a lot harder to catch us if we were driving fast than if we were driving slow. Our imaginations running wild, there we are screaming (disclaimer: we were joking) at the top of our lungs. Guess you had to be there but it was pretty funny.
On Saturday, Krista and I went into Moose Jaw and ended up at the military base. A friend of Krista's is training to be a fighter pilot so we went and visited him at the base. Here are a few photos of all we saw and did...
Those helmets are HEAVY. Believe me. and apparently suffocating too. Krista tried it on first and you can't tell, but I think she is shouting that she can't breathe. Which is why I chose not to put on the mouth piece fully. I like air. And this is the view of the other fighter "jet" from the one we were in. The water you ask? Yes, we flew to the ocean. Okay, we actually didn't leave solid ground, that is just a picture hanging on the wall. Once again, our imaginations got the best of us.
Another bonus to the weekend was that my friend Leah drove down from Regina to spend the night. We haven't seen each other in nearly a year so that was quite fabulous. The rest of Saturday involved watching Keith play hockey, going to BP's for dinner and the Spa. Sunday ended with us going to Caronport Community Church, getting back in the car and driving home. Good times!
Cousins. Isn't family wonderful??
At the hockey game. I guess I didn't want my picture taken.
Dinner at BP's.
The trip home. Again, Krista and I got a little snap happy. Gotta pass the time somehow!
Quite a getaway I must admit. Random roadtrips makes for good memories. Thanks for the idea Krista!! Oh, and I believe I forgot to mention that our imagination is quite amazing actually. We had an art project that lasted all the way until The Battlefords on the way home. The smell was overtaking our car so we had to throw it out but you would never guess what 5 packs of Bubblicious can turn into. It was quite disgusting actually--we commented on how gross it was everytime we got in the car--yet still added to it almost the whole trip. The fumes must have been getting to us...

Hey guess what? I'm making a road trip to you in approximately 6 hours! Noice. It could be just as entertaining driving there with 13 boys, we'll have to see. See you tomorrow yo.
Sigh.
Wish I could have been there.
Secondary sigh.
Glad you guys had so much fun!! Looked like you had some good fun :)
Miss you!
Oh, and as usual, you are looking FINE in those pictures! I love your hair. Did you cut it or is it just pulled back? Either way, you're a hottie!
Just pulled back. No hair cut. Au naturel-a little curl, a lotta bobby pins. And for Krista--I forgot to write our quote for the weekend. Do, or do not. There is no try.
i know what that quote is from... i am so smart!
